Steve Cates
was born and raised in Nashville and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Civil Engineering. His degree led him to employment as manager of the Civil Engineering department of Gresham Smith and Partners. This responsibility allowed him the opportunity to travel all over the country in a consulting capacity providing engineering, planning and construction management for some of the largest developers in the Southeast.

Steve is a partner in Cates Construction Development, one of the premier residential real estate developers in Middle Tennessee. Through his involvement with the company, he has been involved with sales of homesites that total approximately $150,000,000. Cates-Kottas homes can be found in many of Nashville’s finest communities, including The Estates of BonBrook, Chenoweth, and The Highlands of Belle River. In addition to his work with the company, Steve has taken an active role in the Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors. Previously, he served as the Association’s President.

Bill Kottas
graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in business administration. In 1984 Bill joined the STM Development Company as Nashville Vice President and was responsible for development, marketing and sales for all STM communities, including Burton Hills located in Green Hills, Stratford Place located in Forest Hills, Devon Park located in Bellevue and Blue Ridge located in Hendersonville.

As a partner in Cates-Kottas Development, Bill has been involved with the development and sale of more than 2,300 home sites since 1991. During that time, he was instrumental in forging strong relationships with many of the area’s best custom builders. Like Steve, his work does not end with Cates-Kottas Development. He is also a past president of the Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee and currently sits on its Board of Directors.

James Carbine
, having lived and worked in middle Tennessee for more than 20 years, has become known as one of the area’s finest builder/developers. Along with his brother, Denzel, James has built and been involved in the development of more than 3,400 high-end, quality homes in the region.

Bringing to the table not only his builder/developer expertise, but also his background in financial planning and accounting, James is the primary link to the local government planning and zoning commissions. As a certified public accountant, James works on the sales and finance sides of the Bridgemore Village project and is co-owner of Carbine Development. He served as the president of the Home Builders Association of Tennessee in 2005 and as a director of the organization for 9 years. James was also the president of the Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee in 1999 and has been involved with the organization for more than eleven years.

Denzel Carbine,
a second-generation builder, was an engineer by trade and literally the backbone of Bridgemore Village. With a BS in civil engineering from Auburn University, Denzel brought the highest level of engineering skill to his work with Bridgemore Village. To acknowledge his accomplishments, the Home Builder's Association of Middle Tennessee awarded Denzel the "Reese Smith Jr. Builder of the Year" Award in 2004 for his vision and community leadership in Middle Tennessee.

Despite Denzel’s passing in July of 2007, Bridgemore Village continues to follow his vision in which community members from every walk of life can access all of the daily services that they so desire without having to leave their close-knit neighborhood. He also envisioned a diverse community including families, singles, retirees, and couples of all ages coming together to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of Bridgemore Village. Denzel was also co-owner of Carbine Development, Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Tennessee and a member of the National Association of Home Builders Board of Directors.
